Stroll in 20th Century Art

Marguerite and Aime Maeght wanted a magical place, where art could express itself in a structure created for the genius or artists. And so this unique place was born, where art lives in harmony with the sun, water and nature of Provence. The long, surrounding wall by Pierre Tal-Coat protects a marvelous site: Alberto Giacometti’s and Alexander Calder’s sculptures, Joan Miro’s Labyrinth, George Braque’s fountain basin, Marc Chagall’s mosaics ....all live in the garden. Buildings by Catalonian architect Josep Lluis Sert house works by some of the greatest contemporary artists.

Nearly one thousand works of art are presented: Adami, Alechinsky, Arp, Bazaine, Braque, Bury, Calder, Chagall, Chillida, Del Re, Delprat, Dodeigne, Fiedler, Francis, Gasiorowski, Giacometti, Gonzalez, Hartung, Hepworth, Kandinsky, Kelly, Kricke, Kuroda, Labauvie, Lam, Leger, Matisse, Miro, Mitchell, Neumann, Prevert, Rebeyrolle, Riopelle, Soulages, De Stael, Steinberg, Tal-Coat, Tapies, Ubac, Van Velde, Zadkine.
